Software Driver Database

Paragon and OpenControl have long lists of drivers and each of these drivers supports several field devices and sometimes even multiple communication media. We know this is difficult to keep straight and are building an information base to share the knowledge we have collected.

Paragon Standard Drivers are included on the Nematron Software CD and are installed as part of the Paragon installation program. You can install all the drivers and then use the configuration wizard to select the ones you want to use. Be sure to enable the drivers you are using also (in AM-Settings-Enablers). The devices supported by standard drivers are listed in the Paragon on-line documentation. We will also be placing much of this information in this database.

Paragon PDK Drivers are not standard drivers. PDK drivers have been developed by third parties with a PIO Development Kit (thus PDK's) and provided to Nematron for convenient distribution (something like shareware). We only re-build them with each release. Beginning with Nematron Software v5.5, PDK drivers are available on request only by contacting Software Support. They are provided "as is" with no warranty. These drivers are typically developed for one application and only for the needs of that application. Thus they are usually less documented and limited in functionally.

PDK drivers must be enabled in AM-Settings-Enablers. Prior to V5.4, using more than one PDK driver in an application required some preparation work; please consult the PDK development manual or contact technical support for instructions.

OpenControl Drivers are provided on the Nematron Software CD for use with the OpenControl Product. You can choose the drivers you wish to install using the main OpenControl installation program.

Note: Prior to v5.5 OpenControl drivers were password protected and purchased/ installed separately from OpenControl.
